Txiki Beguiristain has hinted Barcelona would not be willing to make the first move or spend big money to re-sign Cesc Fabregas. The Blaugrana technical secretary was reacting to rumours the Arsenal playmaker would be interested in a return to the Nou Camp if Barca made their interest known.
After deciding to try his luck in England at the age of 15, however, Fabregas is no longer seen as a favourite son by the Catalan giants.
"He is a great player but the circumstances of his departure make things very difficult," Beguiristain told Avui.
"We cannot pay a great quantity for a homegrown player that decided to leave us.
"To start with he would have to show his desire to return."
Fabregas' agent, Joseba Diaz stated last week that he would like to see Barca declare their intention to take the Arsenal player back after reports surfaced that a bid could be made next summer.
That has been met with a curt answer from Beguiristain, who clearly feels that it was Fabregas' decision to leave and the club will not go to any great length to sign him back.
